About Us

The Graham Star has been Graham County’s award-winning local news source since 1955. With a circulation of 2,000, The Star is mailed weekly each Thursday and keeps residents informed of events and news in beautiful Graham County, the hidden gem of North Carolina’s high country.

Individuals are welcome to stop by our offices at 720 Tallulah Road in Robbinsville with news, announcements – or just to visit.

The deadline for submitting news or buying a classified for the week’s paper is each Monday at 5 p.m. Classified ads are $7 for the first 10 words and 20 cents for each additional word. Ads must be prepaid. We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover.

Community news, birthdays, letters to the editor, club news and features are due by Monday at 5 p.m. Birthday announcements for children 12 or younger are published free of charge.

The deadline for display ads is 5 p.m. Monday. The Star offers competitive rates for display ads, discounts for nonprofit organizations and discounts for individuals who want their ads to appear in our sister publications, the Cherokee Scout in Murphy, the Smoky Mountain Times in Bryson City, the Clay County Progress in Hayesville and any other Community Newspapers, Inc. newspaper.

The Star is an affiliate of Community Newspapers, Inc., which is headquartered in Athens, Ga., and operates newspapers in Florida, Georgia and North Carolina. Copies are $1.50 each. A yearly subscription is $45.99 inside the county and $63.99 for both out-of-county and out-of-state. For more information, call (828) 479-3383, or email us at editor@grahamstar.com.
