Delmas L. Shuler
Delmas L. Shuler, age 92 of Robbinsville, NC went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, March 30, 2017 at Harris Regional Hospital in Sylva, NC.
He was a native of Graham County and the son of the late John F. and Julia Orr Shuler. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Carl Shuler, Dillard Shuler, J.J. Shuler; sisters, Ethel Jordan, Madeline Crisp, Doshia Cook, Nora Walters, Ruth Smith, Louise Smallwood, Eloise Shuler, and Genevieve Shuler.
Delmas Was a Veteran of the United States Army having served during WWII from 1943 until 1946. After his Military Service Delmas owned and operated his own Land Clearing and Contracting business alongside his brother until he retired. He was a member of Mountain Creek Baptist Church and a member of the Robbinsville Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #8635 and American Legion Post #192. He was also the Chairman of the Republican Party for several years. Delmas was a 32nd degree Master Mason and was a member of the Valley of Asheville Scottish Rite and he was also a member of Robbinsville Masonic Lodge #672 for 54 years.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ruth Crisp Shuler; his sister, Ruby Lee Sawyer of Robbinsville; sisters-in-law and her husband, Shirley and Keith Crisp of Stecoah; Helen Shook of Robbinsville; brother-in-law, Ralph L. Crisp of Andrews; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services were held at 7 p.m. Sunday, April 2, at the Townson-Smith Chapel. The Reverend Noah Crowe officiated. Masonic Rites were conducted by Robbinsville Masonic Lodge #672. The family received friends from 5 till 7 p.m. at the Chapel prior to the service. Committal Services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 3, at Mountain Creek Baptist Church Cemetery where Full Military Rites and Flag Presentation were conducted by the North Carolina National Guard Honor Guard and the Robbinsville Carringer-Webster VFW Post #8635 and Eller-Rogers American Legion Post #192.
