Lenora Lail Moody
Lenora Lail Moody, age 93 of the Bear Creek Community of Robbinsville, NC went home to be with the Lord, Monday, July 3, 2017 at her residence.
She was a native of Cherokee County and the daughter of the late Joe and Maude Crisp Elliott.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her infant son Terry Moody in March of 1947 and by her husband of 54 years, Dillard Moody in December of 1999.
Lenora loved her family and friends and she enjoyed cooking for large groups. She enjoyed going camping, listening to bluegrass music and buck dancing. In her later years she loved spending time with her friends at the Graham County Senior Center.
Lenora also loved the Lord and always gave him praise for the blessing he had bestowed on her.
She was saved as a young teenager at a revival in the First Bear Creek Baptist Church of which she became a member, and was later baptized in the Creek below the bridge. She taught Sunday school and sang in the choir for many years and she also sang in the Bear Creek quartet with Joe Elliott, JC Day, and Sheila Miller Mashburn.
At the time of her passing, Lenora was the oldest original member of Bear Creek Baptist Church.
She is survived by her sons and their wives, Tim and Brenda Moody, Marty and Sandy Moody all of Robbinsville; sister, Blanche Wyke of Andrews; grandchildren and spouses, Brandy and Jeff Millsaps, Mandy and John Postell, Bryon and Ashley Moody, T.J. and Krystal Moody, Megan Moody; and great grandchildren, Rebekah Millsaps, Nikolas Millsaps, Kyndal Postell, Kaden Postell, Carsey Moody, Ellie Moody, and Deeley Moody.
Funeral Services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 6, at Bear Creek Baptist Church. The Reverends Mickey Stewart and Randy Collins officiated.
Burial followed at the Bear Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family received friends from 12 till 2 p.m. at the church prior to the services.
