Roger Person Hyatt
Roger Person Hyatt, 83, of the Lower Mill Creek Community in Robbinsville, NC, passed away early Friday, July 21, 2017 at Harris Regional Hospital in Sylva, NC.
A native of Wayne County, NC, he was son of the late Moody Birch and Geraldine Person Hyatt.
Roger was retired as an agent with North Carolina Agriculture Extension Service after 35 years of service. In that time he worked in Yancey, Haywood, Macon, Buncombe and most recently, Graham County, where he served for 21 years. The last five years of his employment, he worked closely with the Tennessee Valley Authority.
Roger and Elsie are members of Andrews United Methodist Church in Andrews.
He is survived by his loving wife of almost
61 years, Elsie Palmer Hyatt; his son and daughter in law, Roger Douglas and Donna Fowler Hyatt of Monroe, NC, his daughter and son in law, Tammy Jean and Kenneth Dwayne Rollins of Greenville, SC, his brother, Joseph Moody Hyatt of Asheville, NC and his sister, Lillian Hyatt Danner of Boone, NC. He has four grandchildren, Carter Rollins Hartwell, Nicole Hyatt Coan, Dwayne Palmer Rollins, and EliJAH Roger Hyatt.
The family received friends from 1 until 3 p.m. Sunday, July 23, at the Chapel, prior to the service. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, at the Townson-Smith Chapel. The Reverends Mary Brown and Loy Kennedy officiated. Interment was held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 24, at Garrett Hillcrest Memorial Park in Waynesville, NC.
