Rutherfordton – Robbinsville's varsity golf season concluded at May 5's 1A Western Regional Tournament, which was held at Rutherfordton's Meadowbrook Golf Course.
Avery Brown missed qualifying for the state championship match by one stroke, placing 15th overall after shooting a 91. Kasen Buchanan turned in a 102 scorecard to finish 28th, while Dane Knott had a 109 to take 33rd in the field.
The hosting Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy Gryphons won the regional crown, posting a collective 333. Andrews was second, with 355.
League title match
Cashiers – The Black Knights placed seventh in the two-day Smoky Mountain Conference tournament, which concluded April 27 at Old Edwards Club in Cashiers.
Robbinsville combined for an 817 across the event. Brown led the pack with an 182, while Buchanan recorded an 187.
Knott had a two-day tally of 227, while Levi Roberts shot a 228. Xamuel Wachacha rounded out the Knights' scorecard with a 232.
Cherokee won the divisional championship, finishing with a 736. Andrews was four strokes behind, at 740.
