Robbinsville finishes year perfect in league play
Robbinsville – It is only fitting that after such a successful season, the Lady Knights have once again been afforded the No. 1 seed in the 1A Western postseason bracket.
Robbinsville made one final statement before entering the playoffs, capping a 21-2 regular-season mark (including a flawless 12-0 resume in the Smoky Mountain Conference) by knocking off Murphy 7-1 on April 30.
The game featured a triple and two RBIs, courtesy of Daphne Barlow; doubles from Sydney Adams, Suri Watty and Dreylee Webster; and an eight-strikeout evening inside the circle for Kynadee Spencer (5-1) and the returning Ella Nelms, who tossed the final two innings of play.
Thanks to the top seed, the Lady Knights enjoyed a first-round bye Tuesday and will host River Mill Academy (No. 8, 11-8) in the second round Friday at Judy Nichols Memorial Field. The Jaguars blanked North Stokes (No. 9, 9-13), 3-0 on Tuesday.
A start time had not been announced by The Graham Star's Wednesday press deadline. For updates on Robbinsville's playoff action, follow The Graham Star on Facebook; as well as on X, @KevinHensleyCNI or @thegrahamstar.
