Mites stay perfect, Robbinsville takes 3 from Andrews
Smoky Mountain Youth League Football
At Andrews, Sept. 9
The Black Knights exploded for three touchdowns in the first quarter and never looked back in maintaining their undefeated, unscored-on record.
Speedster Kayden Lequire bolted for four touchdown runs and caught a 2-point conversion pass from Luke Lovin, but Coach Tommy Adams called the victory a “total team effort.” He was especially pleased with his defense.
Robbinsville also scored on a 30-yard pass from Bryce Adams to Roman Jones, who scampered 20 yards to paydirt.
Quinn Jumper broke loose for a 40-yard touchdown, and Adams had a pair of 2-point conversions.
“Our line dominated, Titan Teesateskee, Logan Calloway, Bracey Wilson Rylan Waldroup, Owen Blevins, Paxton Waters, Bryce Adams made it easy for our linebackers, corners and safety to flow to the ball and clean up any missed tackles. Our mites played awesome today and they were up for the challenge against Andrews!” Adams remarked. “We dominated them on both sides of the ball... I am amazed at how well this group of boys play the game!”
The Mites are 3-0 and averaging 33 points a game and haven’t been scored on.
Robbinsville’s B&B boys – Brayson Anderson and Braylon Phillips – were too much for Andrews.
Brayson scored on a 50-yard run and threw a 33-yard touchdown to Ethen Jumper, while Braylon made seven tackles, forced two fumbles, and had TD runs of 80 yards and 20 yards.
Caiden Orr and Jake Satterfield recovered fumbles.
“I am very proud of my team,” Coach Nathan Mull remarked. “They learned today that hard work pays off. These players are very smart, and I’m truly blessed to work with them.”
The PeeWees are 1-1-1.
The Knights broke the game open with 16 points in the second quarter and put the Wildcats in the rearview mirror with 16 points in the third quarter.
The Termites are 2-1.
The score was tied 6-all at halftime, but the Black Knights couldn’t find the end zone in the second half.
The Midgets are 1-2.
