Deborah Jean Bowen, 69 of Almond, N.C., passed away on Monday, Aug. 9, 2021, at her home. 

Deborah (Debbie) retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 20 years working in Almond, Whittier and the surrounding communities. 

She was a loving wife, mother, sister and a friend to many. 

Debbie was an ardent advocate for Ocular Melanoma awareness and prevention, the disease and resulting metastasis which ultimately took her life.  

Debbie is survived by her daughter, Dianna of Asheville; her sister Pam Coffman and brother Bruce Nidy of Florida, by a large extended family and many close friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Dennis Bowen.

Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life honoring Debbie at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, 2021, at her home, 3788 N.C. Hwy. 28 North, Almond, N.C. 

Light refreshments will follow.
