Jessie Ruth Mattox Harden, 90 of Folkston, Ga., passed away on June 7, 2021 in Asheville, N.C. 

She was born on June 12, 1930 in Folkston, Ga. to the late Jesse and Edith Ruth Haddock Mattox. She retired as the secretary for the Charlton County Extension Agent and was a member of Philadelphia Free Will Baptist Church.  She loved gardening and flowers, but her greatest passion was spending time in her summer home in Stecoah in her beloved North Carolina mountains.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Charlie Harden; and two children, Stanley Harden and Karen Heaton.  

She is survived by her daughter: Sharon (Kenny) Crocker and a son: David (Becky) Harden; grandchildren: Daniel (Melissa) Harden, Erin (Danny) Waters, Travis Padgett, Leila Harden, Emily Harden, Alison Harden, Ashley Brown and Chris Brown; great-grandchildren: Cody Nixon, Taylor Harden, Cason Turner, Heaven Waters, John Waters, Jace Waters, Maleigh Harden, Jaylynn Harden, Browning Harden, Ansley York, Kacey Brown, Emma Brown, Cliff Brown, Dylan Norton, Ashton Norton and McKenzie Somers; three sisters, Jimmie Jane Glisson, Louise (John) Bryant, and Rachel Dixon; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members.

The family received friends on Friday, June 11, 2021 at Shepard-Roberson Funeral Home in Folkston, G.A. from 6-8 p.m.  Funeral services were held Saturday, June 12, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Philadelphia Free Will Baptist Church. The Revs. Keith Lloyd and Billy Champion officiated. 

Burial was in Sardis Cemetery.
