Nettie Jean Eller Lewis, 80 of the I U Gap community in Robbinsville, N.C., went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Sept. 29, 2022, at Harris Regional Hospital in Sylva, N.C.

A native of Graham County, she was the daughter of the late Herbert Rufus (Red) and Amy Ethel Carver Eller.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin “Hardwood” Lewis; her sons, Marty Lewis, Mike Lewis and Darrin Lewis; her infant children, Mark Lewis and Melanie Lewis; and her older brother, Ray Eller.

Nettie fostered an environment that let all her family know they were welcome in her home. She was always able to make everyone feel at home.

Though she faced much adversity in her life, her faith never faltered nor failed. She would always let people know that her help came from God. Her servant’s heart, much like her mother’s, always lead her to make sure everyone else was cared for. She provided for Hardwood at home during his long battle with diabetes until his death.

For many, the loss of three sons would have been too much to bear. Nettie continued to rely on the promise through her salvation that God would send her a comforter to help her cope with that unimaginable grief. She showed the love of Christ in her everyday life.

Nettie is survived by her children: Andy Lewis (Donna), Pam Williams (Kyle), and Misty Hembree (Larry), all of Robbinsville, N.C.; brothers, Brian Eller (Linda) and Joe Eller (Rita); sisters, Dorothy Medlin and Brenda Waldroup (Bill); grandchildren: Nathan Lewis, Suade Lewis, Scott Lewis, Dakota Lewis, Dawson Williams, Samantha Sellers, Joshua Hembree, Tabitha Lequire and Brittany Moore; great-grandchildren: Garrett, Gracyn, Riley, Americus, Stephen, Ryleigh, Bayleigh, Kimberlynn, Branson, Carson and Lawson.

Along with her family, her many nieces and nephews will cherish her memory and will always be grateful for the love Aunt Nettie showed them.
