* More than two pounds of methamphetamine – with a street value of $90,000 – was discovered in a raid at a Robbinsville home. Scott Hardin and Celena Lane were arrested while allegedly in the process of cooking meth in an “out-building.” The pair faced numerous charges. “I would say it’s the second largest lab that has been busted in the county’s history,” said Graham County Sheriff Mickey Anderson said. The sheriff’s office had busted three meth labs during 2012.

* Rosman traveled to Robbinsville’s 2012 homecoming football game. Austin Hall started the night with a 94-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. Spencer McCoy later ran a 19-yard touchdown and the Knights went for a two-point conversion, giving them a 14-7 lead with 8:26 left in the second quarter. McCoy broke free again in the third quarter for another 24-yard touchdown run. Robbinsville went on to win, 33-14. The homecoming queen was Amanda Holder.

* Reports of rabies in Buncombe County seemed unrelated to Graham County but Janet Ward had been studying this problem at Southwestern Community College. Her findings were presented to the Robbinsville Board of Aldermen – including a Graham County animal-license tag dated 1922 – to prove that the laws were previously enforced. Ward also inquired about what the city plans to do about the issue of the laws. “We are going to try to get the county to work with us,” said alderman Steve Hooper. Update: Hooper went on to become a two-term mayor, with his final service ending last year.

* Robbinsville etched out a 20-15 win over the Rosman Tigers, who came in as a 14-point favorite. Coy Adams rushed for 157 yards and two touchdowns, while Greg Barlow led Robbinsville receivers with 101 yards and one touchdown.
