Annual spectacle will travel new route
Robbinsville – All community members, organizations, businesses, clubs, sports and churches are being called upon by Robbinsville High School, encouraging support and participation in this year’s homecoming parade.
The annual extravaganza will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13. To avoid Corridor K construction on Sweetwater Road, the parade route this year will begin and end at Wayne Carringer Blvd., off Rodney Orr Bypass. Wayne Carringer Blvd will be closed to incoming traffic; superintendent Angie Knight said no spectator parking on campus or in any grassy areas of Wayne Carringer Blvd., will be permitted.
The community is also welcome to enter floats in the parade. Judging will be held in the high school parking lot at 2 p.m. There will be cash prizes for first, second and third place.
Businesses can decorate their storefront for the event, as well. Judging will begin at 1 p.m.; the winner of the contest will be awarded No. 1 in Black Knight Spirit. This year’s theme is “A Knight To Remember.”
This year’s Grand Marshal is Robbinsville United Methodist Church Pastor Eric Reece, who has made a tremendous impact in our community and schools. The district will also be honoring its Graham County Schools Teachers of the Year: Ben Davis (Robbinsville High School), Dale Farr (Robbinsville Middle School) and Teresa Moody (Robbinsville Elementary School).
All in the parade are asked to hold their candy until the route is on the main road. Please do not throw candy in the school parking lot.
