Earl D. Watts, 89 of Robbinsville, N.C., went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Sept. 23, 2021, at Novant Health Center in Charlotte, N.C.

A native of Florida, Earl was the son of the late Vernon and Gladys Woodruff Watts.  

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by first wife, Beatrice Watts; his brothers, Vernon “Buddy” Watts, and Eugene Watts; and his sisters, Vanita “Toy” Boyd, Evelyn Della Vedova and Ellen Colina.

Earl was an electrician by trade and operated Sparky Watts Electric for many years. He came to Graham County many years ago and fell in love with the simplicity and beauty of Graham County.  He was a dedicated member of Cedar Cliff Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Minnie Jo Hedrick Watts; his daughters and sons-in-law, Susan Garrison (Steve) of Juniper. Fla. and Tina Carver (David) of Robbinsville, N.C.; sons and daughters-in-law, Earl Watts, Jr. (Diane) of Charlotte, N.C., Ronnie Hedrick (Terry), and Wayne Duvall (Yvonne), all of Lakeland, Fla.; and his sister, June Ryan of Wellington, Fla. 

His grandchildren are Jeffrey Zmistowski, Maria Mitchell, Rachel Ayers, Ronnie Hedrick II, Jessie Hedrick, Abbie Bannister, Carlton Duvall, and Koty Burdette. He has several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 26, 2021, at Carver Cemetery.  The Revs. Daniel Stewart and Brian Stevens officiated.
