Lloyd “Ray” Orr, 77 of the Sweetwater community in Robbinsville, N.C., went peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior at his home on Saturday, May 29, 2021.
He was the son of the late Roy and Nora Elliott Orr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Gene Orr; and sisters, Glena Lail and infant Nina Orr.
Ray was a faithful member of Sweetwater Baptist Church and served as a Sunday School teacher and Deacon for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Carol Jones Orr; his daughter, Rhonda Anderson (Billy); his son, Scott Orr (Barbie); sisters, Maxine Crisp and Wilma Millsaps; brother, Gerald Orr; sister-in-law, Connie Orr; and several nieces and nephews.
He has six grandchildren who always brought a smile to his face: Cameron Anderson (Hannah), Kinsley Fender (Dustie), Carleigh Anderson (Logan), Landan Orr (Maggie) and Lakin and Brynlee Orr.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at Sweetwater Baptist Church. The family received friends from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service. The Revs. G.D. Phillips and Patrick Breedlove officiated. Burial will follow in the Old Mother Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Cameron Anderson, Landan Orr, Logan Odom, Dawson Orr, Kevin Orr and Trent Nichols.
