Vivian Griggs Surber, 80 of Robbinsville, N.C., passed away, on Thursday, May 19, 2022, at her residence.
She was the daughter of the late Clifford and Juanita Hayes Griggs. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Janice Griggs.
Vivian was born in Alcoa, Tenn. and grew up in the Yellow Creek community. After graduating high school, she moved to the Washington, D.C. area to work for the federal government and then retired to Robbinsville.
Vivian was an avid reader and loved to work on the family genealogy with her daughter Crystal.
She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Thomas Stone Chapter in Maryland, along with her daughter.
She is survived by her daughter, Crystal Surber French of Bowie, Md.; brother, Curtis Griggs of Robbinsville, N.C.; sisters, Shirley O’Barr of Surgoinsville, Tenn. and Betty Collins of Robbinsville, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.
No services are planned.
