Black Knights continue best start in program history
Andrews – At this point, one has to wonder: just who can stop Robbinsville’s pursuit of history?
Following a 52-43 triumph Tuesday at Andrews, the Black Knights are off to their best start ever: 7-0.
After the hot start, it is easy to see why the team is full of poise and swagger about the slate ahead – and yet, they are not getting ahead of themselves.
“We’re all excited,” said junior shooting guard Donovan Carpenter. “It’s been a long journey. These past few years have not been the best, but this start has really boosted our confidence.
“We’re trying not to get a big-head, either; we’re just trying to keep things calm and keep doing our thing.”
Carpenter slayed a trio of 3’s in the first half to help lift the offensive effort. Helping Robbinsville stay one step ahead before the break was the experience of senior point guard Brock Adams, who had a quick 7-point burst before halftime – including a pick-and-bucket at the 20-second mark. Xander Wachacha came to life in the third quarter, with a triplet of his own from beyond the arc. In the closing seconds of the contest, Wachacha stayed camped at the free-throw line – a product of Andrews (6-2, 1-2) needing to amass quick fouls in order to keep itself in the game.
Carpenter topped the Robbinsville scorebook with 18 points. Wachacha had 15, while Brock Adams racked up 13. Bryce Adams’ 6-point effort stamped the win.

Rounding out the scoreline were Carpenter, 4; and Bo Rattler, 3.
Junior varsity
Robbinsville dropped its JV contest Friday against Murphy, 60-46. Dane Knott posted 15 points to lead the Knights. Isaiah Brown had 11, while Luke Lovin contributed nine. Fleshing out the scorebook for Robbinsville (2-4) was Trey Lambert, 5; and Isiac Collins, Dane Daniels and Tanner Hedden, 2 each.
Tuesday at Andrews, the Knights’ offense was nowhere to be found. A scant 4-point first half ultimately gave way to a 50-9 loss to the Wildcats. Scoring for Robbinsville was handled by Hedden, 4; Brown and Lambert, 2 each; and Lovin, 1.
