Robbinsville Middle boys put season-opening loss aside
Robbinsville – Following a pair of losses at the hands of Cherokee, the Robbinsville Middle School Black Knights have repelled all opposition to tally a 4-1 record.
The Knights have enjoyed all the comforts of home since the Jan. 14 defeats, knocking off Rosman on Jan. 20, Andrews on Jan. 21 and Murphy on Monday.
Black Knights
Robbinsville and Andrews put together a very competitive showcase Jan. 21. Though the Knights led 8-2 early, Robbinsville was forced to hold off a late Wildcats charge to prevail 51-47.
Luke Lovin’s 14 points led the Knights offense in the victory. Others scoring for Robbinsville was Bryce Adams 13, Dane Knott 9, Roman Jones 7, Tytan Teesateskie 6 and Hugh Forbes 2.
The only speed bump thus far was the 63-51 loss to the Braves. In the game, both Knott and Adams scored a team-best 16 points.
Also scoring was Lovin 5, Teesateskie 4, Jones 3, Forbes 2 and Quinn Jumper 2.
Robbinsville handily toppled Rosman, 64-21.
The Knights’ offense was led by Adams’ 19-point effort. Also contributing to the final outcome was Knott 10, Teesateskie 10, Lovin 8, Jones 6, Forbes 6, Isiac Collins 3, Trey Lambert 2 and Owen Blevins 2.
Adams had a monster game in Monday’s 58-52 win over the Bulldogs, posting a double-double to the tune of 28 points and 13 rebounds. Also scoring was Lovin 9, Jones 8, Knott 7, Forbes 4 and Teesateskie 2.
Lady Knights
The middle school girls (3-2) have only fallen at Cherokee in the season debut, as well as a home loss to Murphy on Monday.
Robbinsville started the Jan. 21 win over Andrews on a 10-0 run. The Lady Knights held the Lady Cats to just 8 first-half points and maintained a double-digit lead throughout the game, going on to pick up a 47-22 victory.
Liz Carpenter’s 16-point night led Robbinsville. Also scoring was Jozlyn Garland 9, Novie Dutcher 8, Shataya Chambers 4, Anna York 3, Olivia Stewart 2, Maleah Cox 2, Katie Lyn Gross 2 and Abby Wehr 1.
Carpenter also had 16 points in a tight 31-30 win over Rosman. Others to score were Garland 7, Gross 4, Wehr 2 and York 2.
In the 51-27 loss against Murphy, Carpenter put up 14 points. Filling out the scoreline was Garland 5 and Dutcher, Gross, York and Chambers with a bucket apiece.
Garland and Carpenter had three points each in the 63-6 loss to the Lady Braves.
