70 grams of meth seized
Kloie Cox
Deputies from the Graham County Sheriff’s Office made a pair of lunch-hour traffic stops on both Aug. 14 and 16, with both resulting in arrests and the seizure of a combined 70 grams of methamphetamine.
Kloie Matteanne Cox, 21 of Hayesville and Randy Dale Price, Jr., 35 of Robbinsville, were the two suspects brought in during the respective stops.
At 11:53 a.m., Aug. 14, Cox was pulled over in the 2000 block of Tallulah Road (U.S. Highway 129), after an officer noted a 2013 Kia Forte operating with a revoked license plate. Graham County Narcotics K-9 Sam was later dispatched to the stop and soon displayed a positive sign for a controlled-substance odor.
Sam was right on the money, as 47 grams of crystal methamphetamine was found during the subsequent search of the Kia. A TruNarc (analyzer used in the field to test narcotics) confirmed that the substance was meth.
Cox was charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle; possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver methamphetamine; possession of drug paraphernalia; and trafficking in methamphetamine.
“This arrest demonstrates the relentless effort and commitment of our officers to
keeping the community safe and drug-free,” Hoxit said. “We will continue to enforce the law and ensure those who engage in illegal activities are held accountable.”
Price was spotted on Rodney Orr Bypass around 12:44 p.m., Aug. 16, driving a Ford truck without a license. Sam was once again called to the scene and showed indications of a controlled substance in the pickup. When officers dug in, 23 grams of meth was confirmed by TruNarc to be found in the vehicle.
Charges of possession of methamphetamine – as well as possession of drug paraphernalia – and was assessed a $50,000 secured bond.
