Robbinsville – Officers struck paydirt Friday, when a 5-month investigation resulted in a large amount of suspected methamphetamine being discovered at a local residence.
Around 8:47 p.m., the Graham County Sheriff’s Office entered a home at 286 Circle Street, armed with a search warrant. Two individuals were located inside; one was weighed down by a sizable amount of a crystal-like substance – believed to be meth.
The preliminary weight of the findings was over 30 grams.
Arrested were both residents of the home:
* Billy Jack Heinzer, 37, charged with felony trafficking in methamphetamine. While conducting a body search, Heinzer was found to be in possession of a large amount of the suspected meth inside a pocket on his person. The discovery of roughly 29 grams of what was gathered at the residence is considered trafficking.
* Kristy Lee Lofty, 36, charged with possession of methamphetamine and maintaining a dwelling place for controlled substance – both felonies. Around one gram of the substance found in the residence was discovered in Lofty’s bathroom.
Heinzer was assessed a $150,000 secured bond; Lofty’s was set at $10,000. As of Tuesday afternoon, Heinzer was still in custody; Lofty was released on bond.
In a press release about the warrant, sheriff Brad Hoxit expressed his appreciation for the support the office has received in its efforts to curb local, illegal narcotics activities.
The office also encourages anyone with any information regarding narcotics or illegal narcotics activity to call 828-479-3352.
