Shaun Adams
Robbinsville – For the first time since March 4, 2020, Alderman Shaun Adams attended a meeting.
Adams was in-person at the June 2 meeting, marking the end of a nearly 16-month sabbatical. During that time, Adams was absent for 18 board meetings and two budget sessions.
Six of those were held via teleconference.
While absent, Adams continued to collect his $800 monthly payment for being on the board, which amounts to $12,800 while not present.
Adams had already been absent for three months when a confrontation with Mayor Steve Hooper at the Graham County Recycling Center on June 17, 2020, resulted in a no-contact order and subsequent lawsuit being filed on June 26. Several continuances led to the matter never being resolved in court, as Hooper moved to have the lawsuit dismissed in an April 9 filing with the Graham County Clerk of Court.
The dismissal did not reveal any motivation behind Hooper filing the motion.
