Robbinsville – The Robbinsville Tourism Authority covered several topics at its July 27 meeting, including the postponement of the ever-popular fishing derby.
The event – which was penciled in for Saturday, Sept. 11 – has been rescheduled for April 30, 2022, due to the Wildlife Service not being able to supply part of the fish stock.
Also discussed at the meeting:
* The authority solidified plans on applying for a $5,000 grant for the “Passport to Adventure.” The application was submitted Friday. The “Passport to Adventure” will be a book that details all the hiking trails in the Graham County area. The Robbinsville Tourism Authority will find out if it will receive the funds at the end of September.
* The final topic was a $50,000 grant that the Graham County Public Library applied for. The funding will be used to build a butterfly garden for educational purposes. The library reached out to the Robbinsville Tourism Authority for help in certain areas of this developing project.
