Methodist church to hold Christmas celebration
Fort Hill – One of the community’s houses of worship will hold its first Christmas Extravaganza on Sunday.
The event will include performances by church choirs, a live nativity scene and refreshments.
The event will be the first of its kind and will feature Brady Cody as Joseph, Kelsey Cody as Mary, and their 7-month-old daughter, Nora Grace Cody as baby Jesus, with other parishioners filling the remaining nativity roles.
The event is spearheaded by Anna Ginn, a member of the Robbinsville UMC congregation and choir.
“It’s going to be a Christmas gift to the community,” Ginn said. “There’s something for everyone.”
The choir has been practicing on the Christmas music since August.
“We’re not a small choir, but we’re a mighty choir,” Ginn noted.
Soloists will include Tommy Gina, Carl Lawson, Ann Stiles and Julie Nelms, as well as flutist Emily Jordan.
Ginn also said the church hoped to make the Christmas Extravaganza an annual event and lauded Robbinsville UMC Pastor Eric Reece for his support.
Kelsey Cody said part of the decision to hold such an event this year was there being a number of infants born into the congregation, giving the church options for someone to fill the role of the baby Jesus.
“It’s the first year we’ve had a lot of babies in the church,” Kelsey said.
Kelsey added that she was glad to be part of an event like the extravaganza, with many similar celebrations in recent years having been canceled or postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Face coverings are encouraged. The program will last approximately 45 minutes.
