Robbinsville – Firefighters with the Graham County Fire Department, N.C. Forest Service and U.S. Forest Service responded to an out-of-control brush fire on Dillard Orr Road around 6:20 p.m. Nov. 29.
A man was burning leaves in his yard when the fire spread onto adjoining property and came within 30 feet of a neighbor’s home. The quick response from the firefighters brought the fire under control just in time to prevent the loss of someone’s home.
The fire burned around ½ acre.
Even though the burn ban has been lifted, landowners should use caution when burning outdoors since fire danger has been high – due to the recent sunny and windy days.
