Snowbird – Firefighters with Graham County Fire and Rescue – including the Snowbird unit – as well as both the N.C. and U.S. Forest services – responded to a brush fire around 4:30 p.m., March 5, on Dick Branch Road, in the Snowbird section of Graham County.
N.C. Forest Service Ranger Frank Cline reported that the fire started when a falling tree knocked a power line down, and the live wires ignited nearby brush and leaves. One structure was threatened when the fire came within about 20 feet of it.
The fire was contained after burning four acres of private land.
Personnel remained on the scene until 9:30 p.m., making sure any burning material near the fire containment line was taken care of.

Moose Branch – Graham County Fire and Rescue and N.C. Forest Service personnel responded to another brush fire around 7 p.m., Saturday on Moose Branch Road, near Victory Baptist Church.
The fire – which burned less than acre – threatened two structures that were about 200 feet away from the blaze.
The fire was controlled by 8:30 p.m.
Graham County Fire and Rescue, N.C. Forest Service and U.S. Forest Service also responded to a fire in the Stillhouse Hollow area of Moose Branch around 5:45 p.m., Monday.
The fire was soon contained after burning less than an acre of private land.
Both Moose Branch fires are believed to have been intentionally set.
