Paul Salvatore Cappuccio
Robbinsville – A man residing in Graham County remains in jail on a $50,000 bond, after allegedly assaulting two Graham County law enforcement officers.
Court documents show that 37-year-old Paul Salvatore Cappuccio brandished a hunting knife at Graham County Sheriff’s office deputy Randy Price and detective Josh Reap on Friday, prior to allegedly biting Reap’s finger, breaking bones and requiring Reap to receive 10 stitches.
Reap was attempting to take Cappuccino into custody during the melee, as Cappuccio was using abusive language, intending to incite violent retaliation from Reap.
Sheriff Jerry Crisp said Price and Reap were dispatched to the Sweetwater Apartments on Moose Branch Road after a complaint about a trespasser from the property manager. The two followed Cappuccio inside a unit, where he then allegedly brandished the knife at them.
Crisp also said that Reap’s index finger was nearly separated, but was reattached later that day. However, he said the detective still ran a risk of possibly losing his fingertip.
Cappucio was allegedly impaired at the scene, but Crisp was unsure what substance he had consumed.
Cappuccio racked up several charges, including two counts of assault with a deadly weapon on a government official, assault physically injuring law enforcement, probation or parole officer, resisting a public officer and disorderly conduct.
No court date was listed on the warrant.
Cappuccio is no stranger to law enforcement in the area, with pending charges of breaking and entering and disorderly conduct against him.
