Meadow Branch – There was another brush fire before heavy rainfall arrived in Graham County early Monday morning.
A vehicle fire was reported just before 9:30 p.m., Sunday night on Old Field Gap Road.
The fire spread to the surrounding wooded area.
Firefighters with Graham County Fire and Rescue – including units from the Meadow Branch and Santeetlah Fire departments, N.C. Forest Service and U.S. Forest Service – responded to the fire.
Those on the scene were able to knock most of the fire down until forest service personnel were able to get a containment line built around the fire, which was controlled after burning less than an acre of U.S. Forest Service land.
The county and statewide burn ban was lifted at 8 a.m., Wednesday.
