Robbinsville – An innovative idea that is evolving throughout the school year has sparked a bevy of unique ideas on the path to winning a competition.
Students at Robbinsville Middle School entered the 2022-23 schedule with a new twist at-play: the Ron Clark Academy House System, where pupils are randomly assigned to four different “houses” (think the Harry Potter system): Amistad, Altruismo, Isibindi and Reveur.
Each house works to earn points and compete against one another through a series of positive works, such as character, building relationships, school spirit and even community outreach.
The Amistad (Red) House originated in Mexico and is noted for its strong spirit.
The name literally translates to mean “friendship” and under direction from faculty, the Amistad House organized a canned-food drive for Robbinsville’s Rescue Coalition, which helps feed less-fortunate residents and works to advocate against the drug dilemma in Graham County.
More than 100 canned goods were submitted by the students in the Amistad house.
The Ron Clark Academy is based in Atlanta.
