Tuskeegee – Firefighters were unable to salvage a home in the Tuskeegee community, after a blaze quickly engulfed the residence Saturday.
Crews were first dispatched to 754 Upper Tuskeegee Road around 9 p.m., with the Stecoah, Graham County, Snowbird and Santeetlah Fire departments all responding to the scene. The Swain West Fire Department was also brought in as a standby resource.
Residents Aaron and Abbi Phillips escaped the home with their 2-month-old son Colter, but the structure was deemed a total loss.
Friends and family alike began asking for help via Facebook posts Sunday, as the young couple lost everything in the fire. Aaron’s aunt Beth Phillips also set up a GoFundMe to assist the situation; as of Tuesday, $765 of a $2,000 goal had been raised.
