Robbinsville – A man accused of sex crimes in Graham County is scheduled for trial this week.
Casey Adam Haney is scheduled to be tried for three counts, including one count of indecent liberties with a child committed in 2017, and a second count of indecent liberties with a child and a count of statutory rape of a person under 15, allegedly taking place on Feb. 4, 2018.
Jury selection took place on Tuesday, with witnesses scheduled to be called for the first time after press time Wednesday.
The prosecution and defense met in Graham County on Monday afternoon for a pretrial hearing. Haney will be represented by attorney Michael Fox of Bryson City, while the prosecution will consist of assistant Prosecutorial District 43 attorneys John Hindsman and Jeff Jones.
Superior Court District 30 Judge William Coward will preside.
