Yellow Creek – A home on George Turpin Road was destroyed by fire Saturday afternoon.
Several local fire departments and the N.C. Forest Service responded to the call, which came in to the Graham County 911 Center at 5:26 p.m.
The home of the Kevin Williams family was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived on the scene.
Due to the close proximity of the home to the woods – and windy conditions – the fire also burned a small patch of woodland. The fire in the woods was quickly contained, but the home could not be saved, with the family losing everything.
Grace Place and the American Red Cross were contacted later that night about collecting clothing and other necessities for the family.
