Robbinsville – The presence of COVID-19 has been confirmed in the Graham County Jail.
A post on the Graham County Health Department’s Facebook page confirmed the outbreak, with at least eight people affected so far. The post also stated that measures were being taken within the jail to prevent the spread of the virus.
No inmates were brought up from the jail during Superior Court on Monday and those arrested in Graham County are being held in other jails in the region for the time being. A sign on the jail door states that the facility is closed to the public until further notice.
News of the outbreak comes as more cases are being reported in Graham County. This week, 21 new cases of COVID-19 were reported by the health department. There have been 52 overall in the last month.
