Robbinsville – The Robbinsville Tourism Authority has gone through some major changes over the last month.
Director Karen Taylor and board member Teresa Garland have resigned due to personal reasons. Taylor resigned after the Jan. 25 meeting, while Garland resigned at the end of the Feb. 22 session.
Fortunately, upcoming events such as the Taylor Hicks concert, car show and a poker run are still going to occur.
The car show will be held in conjunction with the poker run and Hicks concert Saturday, May 7.
If anyone would like to enter a car in the show, registration is being held at Robbinsville Town Hall. The first car per entrant is $20; however, every car after that will only cost $10.
The first 25 people to submit an entry form will receive two free concert tickets.
You can also receive two free tickets if you are one of the first 10 vendors to register at the town hall and set up at the car show for a fee of $10.
Additionally, the board announced that the “Passport to Adventure” is complete. In September, the Robbinsville Tourism Authority applied for a $5,000 grant; out of that, the board was awarded 2,500 from Great Smokies Health Foundation.
Board member Debbie Beasley has completed the kit, which contains a booklet of 16 trails, local mural locations, handicap accessible sites and waterfall locations. The booklet can be stored in an included fanny pack.
“Passport to Adventure” is available for free at Robbinsville Town Hall. Tapoco Lodge and Lynn’s Place have offered a 10-percent discount at their businesses if someone participated in this event.
