Tallulah – The N.C. Press Association announced its 2019-20 editorial contest winners Friday, with The Graham Star winning in six different categories.
The Star’s successes were equally split between first-place and third-place honors.
“Winning six state awards in the middle of a pandemic speaks volumes to the hard work and commitment of The Graham Star staff,” said publisher/editor Kevin Hensley. “This weekly publication continually produces high-quality content and we are grateful for the recognition of our efforts by the N.C. Press Association.”
The staff received first place for Best Magazine/Niche Publication (I Love Graham County 2020), as well as third place for Special Section (Another Crown for Title Town) and Use of Photographs (April 2 and 9, 2020 editions). Hensley won first place for Headline Writing (“An Udder Necessity,” “Ending on a High Note” and “Fontastic News!”), News Feature Writing (“I’m Really Glad to Be Home”) and third place for Sports Coverage.
The Graham Star has been Graham County’s hometown newspaper since 1955.
