Robbinsville – Keilah Stewart has been selected as the North Carolina Council of Teachers of Mathematics and North Carolina Department of Public Instruction Outstanding Elementary School Mathematics Teacher for the 2024-25 school year.
A teacher at Robbinsville Elementary School, Stewart was among 76 recognized to represent her district.
Each year, principals statewide are encouraged to nominate a teacher they believe does the most effective job teaching mathematics in their school. Stewart has been teaching at Robbinsville Elementary School for the last 12 years.
Robbinsville Elementary School Principal Kevin White and assistant principal Brandy Carpenter agree that Stewart has been an inspiration to her students.
“Mrs. Stewart is a true inspiration to our students and our community,” Carpenter said.
Stewart is a graduate of Western Governors University.
“Students need to experience mathematics in ways that allow them to be successful and give them confidence in their abilities,” said Stewart.
Stewart is one of many highly-skilled professionals who work hard to provide for the students at Graham County Schools. She will receive a one-year membership in the North Carolina Council of Teachers of Mathematics, recognition at the state mathematics conference and a special memento of the occasion.
