Robbinsville – A recent change in water meters has thrown the Town of Robbinsville's billing system into disarray.
However, the town informed The Graham Star that the problem is being resolved on a per-case basis – whether discovered by office staff or a customer.
Personnel said Tuesday that the error – caused by the conversion from old meters to new ones, recently purchased and installed by town maintenance workers – has led to customers being overcharged on recent bills. The problem lies in the billing software being unable to recognize the change and is not occurring when new hook-ups are placed.
Robbinsville is still utilizing Southern Software for its water and sewer billing, but has met with representatives from Black Mountain Software in recent months.
