Only a few days after a recent snowfall, fire weather returned.
A landowner was burning brush on Jimmy Davis Road in the Massey Branch area Nov. 13, when the fire got out of control. Members of the N.C. Forest Service and U.S. Forest Service responded to the blaze around 1:40 p.m.
The fire was contained by 3:30 p.m., after burning less than an acre of private property. No structures were threatened and there were no injuries.
A brush fire then broke loose around 3 p.m., Saturday, off Hares Creek Road in the Tallulah community. While firefighters were en route, nearby residents began scratching a line around the flames with sticks.
The N.C. Forest Service, U.S. Forest Service, and Graham County Fire and Rescue responded to the scene.
The fire – which may have been intentionally set – was contained after burning a small area.
The same three units also responded to a brush fire at Holly Cove in the Mill Creek community of Graham County around 4 p.m., Monday.
A person was burning leaves when the fire escaped and burned less than an acre of private land.
The fire was contained by 4:30 p.m.
