Snowbird – Firefighters with the U.S. Forest Service and N.C. Forest Service responded to a reported brush fire in the upper reaches of Little Snowbird around 10 a.m., Nov. 20.
Upon arriving at the scene, they discovered a burning vehicle around Porterfield Gap, which is located on the Graham/Cherokee County line.
The fire was contained later in the afternoon, after burning 10 acres of National Forest land of the Tusquittee Ranger District on the Cherokee County side of the ridge, and ½ acre of private land in Graham County.
