Robbinsville – Kristie Sluder, clinical director of Hope Counseling & Recovery Center, Inc., said their new office has a lot of things to be offered for people who lost hope in their lives and wanted to be free from the bondages of addiction.
She said their location at 420 Rodney Orr Bypass is comprehensive and Christ-centered, utilizing biblical principles from clinical perspective.
Sluder said they offer their services for free, through the major partnership and support of Grace Extended Ministries, Sweetgum Baptist Church – through Mike Teem, who initiated and worked on this type of counseling services – and Hope Counseling & Recovery. She said they also do “community” outreach and education that is focused on prevention and they provide transportation to recovery related activities in-line with comprehensive treatment planning.
Developing practical wisdom found in the book of Proverbs, Psalms and Ecclesiastes that includes daily living, finances and family are important for all of us to know, Sluder said. She added that creating success stories is what they do best, by meeting people where they are and walking with them from there on their journey to freedom from addiction.
Every Tuesday at 10 a.m., there will be a Christ-centered family support group called “Loving the Addicted” (understanding co-dependency), for those who have a relative, spouse or friend struggling with chemical addiction.
Then every Thursday’s, from 6-8 p.m., Sluder explained that the Life Recovery Group will not only address the chemical addiction, but also the precursors that put participants at-risk in the first place such as trauma, abuse and neglect.
The Life Recovery Group is a comprehensive Christ-centered approach to recovery, to develop understanding and gain insight into the Biological, Psychological, Social and Spiritual aspects of recovery.
Bearing their office slogan, “There is Hope. There is Help,” the new office is here to mend the broken heart, heal the wounded, set the captive free, shine in a light in the dark places and lead by example through the spirit of compassion.
The office is beside the Nationwide Insurance office with contact numbers 828-649-9999 (office), 828-333-3609 (mobile), or fax number 828-575-5316. They are open from Monday – Thursday, from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. You can call and make an appointment or drop by at their office.
