Christmas comes early

Red Hat Ladies exchange gifts, laughter

    Tallulah – On Saturday, the Red Hat Ladies could be found once again at Moonshiners Steakhouse, this time for the annual, member-exclusive event: Christmas in July. 

    Steakhouse owner Blake Orr closed the establishment for 90 minutes, giving the members – or “Pinkies” – of the chapter the chance to enjoy lunch, laughter, holiday music and a gift exchange. 

    Gifts such as candle warmers, decorative lanterns and journals were exchanged in a Chinese Christmas style. After gifts were exchanged, the “Great Caper” – one who would present celebratory capes to other members – was chosen with a vote, and Susan Lyons was given a cape, crown and sash. 

    The chapters next event – Divas in Denim, a fundraiser for the Graham Cancer Support Group – will fall in October.
