Robbinsville – A local man was charged with heroin and methamphetamine possession Friday morning after the drugs were discovered inside a vehicle parked on Fletcher Hooper Road.
Jesse Lloyd Jenkins, 40 of Massey Branch Road, was inside a vehicle – later discovered to be stolen from Polk County, Tenn. – outside a residence on Fletcher Hooper Road. Graham County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched in the early morning hours after Jenkins and passenger Charles Owenby of Cherokee County allegedly refused to leave the premises. About 16.5 grams of meth and two grams of heroin was seized during the subsequent vehicle search. Jenkins was also charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, while no charges have been presented against Owenby.
"I want to once again commend our deputies, for the job they do and all the work they put in to trying to keep our county safe," Graham County Sheriff Joseph Jones said in a release Friday afternoon.
"We will not stop in the fight against the drug epidemic that is holding our county hostage, against the people who bring this poison into our county and against the ones who make a living by selling these drugs."
