Local man arrested again for assault

Tallulah – A local man is back behind bars after racking up a litany of charges, including allegedly assaulting and kidnapping a woman Friday. 

Court documents show that Robert Michael Phillips – 33, of 140 State Shed Road – allegedly pistol-whipped the victim, striking her on the head with a black semi-automatic pistol and brandishing the weapon at her. He also allegedly kicked her in the head and body while wearing heavy work boots, while she was on the ground in the fetal position. 

The injuries allegedly inflicted on the victim by Philips included head trauma from the blows to her head and face area, and swelling to her lower back and pelvis region, affecting mobility. 

Phillips has been charged with one count of assault on a female, one count of second-degree kidnapping, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, inflicting serious injury and one count of assault by pointing gun. 

He remains at the Graham County Detention Center on a total bond of $500,000. 

No court date was listed on his warrant.

This incident marks Phillips’ second arrest of 2021, after being picked up on meth and resisting arrest charges following a Jan. 20 foot chase. 

He was also arrested in November of 2020 on a laundry list of weapon and drug charges, including possession of a weapon of mass destruction.
