Scissors is a cut above

Second in a series

Robbinsville – Gina Schuler, owner of Scissors Salon, opened her shop in Robbinsville only two months ago.

But Schuler has been a beautician for 36 years and this is her fourth time owning her own shop.

Schuler has worked at other beauty shops in Graham County, but recently decided it was time to own her own business again.

“The Lord said it’s time to do it,” Schuler said. “I just wanted to open a little down-home country salon.”

The shop may be “country,” but it offers a wide range of services, including haircuts, waxing, massage, foiling and hair color.

Originally from Newton, Schuler moved to Graham County two years ago and said, “We love it here. We love the mountains. We love the people.”

Schuler strives to make her clients comfortable and see to their needs.

“I just love making people pretty,” said Schuler. “I always loved people. I’m just a people person.

“One of my favorite sayings is, ‘Come in as a guest; leave as a friend.’”

The shop is holding a fundraiser for the Smoky Mountain Foundation, a “Mingle Jingle” on Saturday, Nov. 30 from 9 a.m. – noon. Santa will be available for photos, and refreshments will be served.

Scissors Salon is located at 436 Rodney Orr Bypass in Robbinsville and is open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. – 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. – noon.
