Truly essential

Local businesses making sure critical needs are met

Due to the COVID-19 epidemic, millions of people worldwide are staying isolated to keep themselves and others safe.

However, some employees are considered essential and must still go to work every day.

People such as clerks, baggers, stockers, first responders and healthcare professionals must make sure that everyone else has what they need.

Essential workers have a tough job during these troubling times. They must go to work where they handle money and goods previously handled by others. In Graham County – where the population is small and COVID-19 has not officially been found to have worked its way into county limit – extra stress still plagues essential workers.

Graham County essential workers are doing everything they can to keep themselves and others safe. Plexiglass is in place in many Robbinsville establishments, to limit person-to-person contact.

At Robbinsville Pharmacy, all employees are working hard to keep things sanitized, and provide excellent customer care.

“We are all washing and sanitizing our hands as much as possible,” said Mike Spinn, owner and CEO of Robbinsville Pharmacy. “We have plexiglass in place and everything is cleaned as much as possible.”

The pharmacy is also working to extend prescriptions from 30 to 90 days, as to avoid excessive trips.

Robbinsville Urgent Care employees are also working hard to keep Robbinsville healthy.

“We have multiple tents to avoid too much close contact,” said Nurse Practitioner Meggan Smith. “We are doing tests for Coronavirus if you are at risk of spreading it to others, like if you work at a nursing home. We are letting very few people into the actual building if they need any scans done.”
