Robbinsville – Access to names of one-stop voters by the public will no longer be allowed.
Graham County Board of Elections Director Teresa Garland explained the new state law – Senate Bill 683, enacted Jan. 1 – to the Robbinsville Board during Monday’s meeting.
Garland was informed that thanks to the change, board members and the public alike will not be allowed to see a list of those who cast ballots until Election Day.
Formerly, anyone could come in and request a list at any time.
Other news and notes from the meeting include:
* The board reiterated that one-stop voting begins today, absentee voting ends Tuesday, Feb. 25 and the primary election takes place the following Tuesday, March 3.
* Chairman Juanita Colvard informed the board that she has been working closely with county project manager Jason Marino on finalized remodel plans of the Graham County Community Building, which is where the Board of Elections hopes to relocate to by the Nov. 3 general election. Bid requests for the project could go out as early as next week.
* Board member Keith Rogers added that preliminary plans are in motion by the local Department of Transportation office to re-pave the parking lot adjacent to the new location at the Graham County Community Building.
