A Dec. 2 release from the Graham County Health Department applauded a recent campaign for everyone to follow the “3 W’s.”

In the release, it was revealed that Graham County has the lowest amount of positive COVID-19 tests – per 10,000 people – in the western region of North Carolina, which includes 14 counties.

“Your hard work to slow the spread in our community is paying off,” the release reads. “On behalf of our senior citizens and those with chronic health conditions, we thank you.

“Please continue to wear a mask, socially distance and wash your hands. Encourage your family, friends and neighbors to do the same. It’s working.”

Since Dec. 1, Graham has reported 23 new cases. Now at 296, the county had just 133 cases Sept. 22, but largely due to an outbreak at Graham Healthcare & Rehabilitation, the count jumped to 206 on Oct. 6.
