Bryson City – The Smoky Mountain Community Theatre will present "Miracle on 34th Street," the play, starting on Friday, Dec. 13 with special arrangements with Dramatic Publishing.
Get into the spirit of Christmas with the classic tale that spreads goodwill and generosity. Kris Kringle (played by Wayne Roshaven) lucks out on the perfect job in NYC as Macy’s Santa Claus since he believes he is the real Santa Claus. As the new Santa, Kris refers customers to other stores to get what the children really want for Christmas.
Appalled at this behavior, Doris Walker (played by Marybeth Druzbick) fires the new Santa. However, Ms. Macy (played by Tracy Walker) is reaping the benefits of the goodwill Kris is spreading and Kris is quickly rehired. Kris begins to teach Susan Walker (played by Natalie Warner), Doris’ daughter, to believe in Santa and others such as the nice neighbor, Fred Gayley (played by Robert Willcox). Kris’ message of goodwill and generosity is spread to all expect Mr. Sawyer (played by Ricky Sanford), who doesn’t believe that Kris is really Santa and plots to commit Kris to Bellevue Psychiatric Hospital.
Will the courts prove that Kris is really Santa Claus?
