Davidson – He has done it again.
Just one year after receiving the History Book Award from the N.C. Society of Historians for his book, Mountain People, Mountain Places, Graham Star columnist Marshall McClung was recognized with the same distinction for the sequel, More Mountain People, Mountain Places, during a ceremony held Saturday at Davidson College.
Known throughout Graham County for his storytelling abilities, McClung has written historical pieces that have appeared in the pages of The Graham Star for many years.
"The genuineness of this author comes through in his writing style, as distinctive and informative as the book itself," the judges' comments read. "His collection of stories captures the spirit of "mountain people, mountain places" in and around Graham County, N.C."
The N.C. Society of Historians was founded in 1941 and Saturday's awards ceremony was its 77th.
