Robbinsville – A busy Graham County Board of Commissioners meeting Tuesday included county manager Becky Garland discussing the process of gathering quotes and financing for new IT equipment at the Sheriff’s Department.
Garland noted the costs would not exceed $35,000. The board approved moving forward with the measure.
Other news and notes from the meeting included:
* The board then discussed methods for properly lighting the new flag in downtown Robbinsville.
* Project Manager Jason Marino presented cemetery and recreation building proposals.
The board discussed sites and construction plans, as well as the potential site for a new courthouse on Fort Hill. Preliminary studies of the Fort Hill site would cost $24,000. The board approved moving forward.
* Lynn Cody of the Stecoah Rescue Squad explained the need to replace defibrillators, which will be outdated in 2021. He also warned that due to costs, there is danger of going from two ambulances to only one. Becky Garland proposed looking into grant proposals to cover the costs of EMS equipment.
* The board reappointed commissioner Connie Orr to the Road Naming Board and agreed to replace Butch Sanders with Cris Weatherford on the HCCBG Board, Accident/Safety Committee, Child Fatality Protection Team, Community Child Protection Team, SW Aging Leadership Team and SW Child Development.
