Robbinsville – For the second time in three weeks, a Graham County man has been caught in possession of a controlled substance.

Dennis James Solles was one of five individuals arrested during the execution of a search warrant in Andrews on Oct. 22, allegedly in possession of heroin.

“We had been working with Cherokee County some, sharing information back and forth,” Graham County Sheriff Joseph Jones said after the Andrews bust.

“Some of the information we had gotten through the sharing was that some of our local people were going over there, buying the drugs, then coming back over here and selling them.

The 62-year-old Robbinsville resident has a new charge on the docket after being taken into custody following the execution of another search warrant on Nov. 12.

The warrant was filed by Graham County officials on a 2000 Ford Expedition, which was believed to be helping with the transportation of controlled substances, including meth.

Officers later conducted a traffic stop on the Expedition – being operated by Solles – near Papa’s Pizza on Tapoco Road at 4:51 a.m. Nov. 12.

The sheriff’s office received a tip that Solles would be returning from Andrews and upon execution of the warrant, 0.5 grams of a “crystal-like” substance – later confirmed to be methamphetamine – along with the vehicle in question and a cell phone were seized.

“I want to commend our deputies for their hard work, as we continue to battle the drug problem in our county,” Jones said in a Facebook post about the arrest Nov. 13. “Our efforts to stop these people bringing and selling the drugs in our county will not stop.”
