Snowbird – As is often the case during inclement weather, Graham County Fire and Rescue members were called out for a search mission.
The Graham County 911 Center received a call around 7:20 p.m., Sunday from Carol Moss of Cherokee County, stating that her 30-year-old son Levi Moss was missing from their home in the Hyatt Creek community. The mother said that Levi had left home after an argument with his father and that whenever Levi became upset about some matter, he usually went to the upper reaches of the Little Snowbird section of Graham County.
With assistance from the Cherokee County Rescue Squad, Graham County Sheriff’s Office, and personnel from The Master’s Mission, a search began of the Little Snowbird area, centering on Tom Taylor Branch – just as the predicted weather brought cold wind, snow and temperatures in the low 30s.
As the snow began to cover the ground, searchers located the truck Moss had driven to the area. The truck was stuck in a deep ditch and partially on its side. There was no sign of Moss in or around the truck, however.
Just after 11 p.m., Carol called the Graham County 911 Center and reported that her son was safe at the home of a nearby residence.
